Lorne Kredl

Assistant Kindergarten Teacher

Lorne was born, raised and educated in Montreal. He has a fine arts background, graduating from Concordia University with a BFA specializing in Studio Art.

He worked in a nursery greenhouse for 10 years before moving to Ontario where he worked as an Independent Living Assistant, assisting adults who have physical disabilities.

In 1998 his first son was born and Lorne became a stay at home father. When his son was ready to go to kindergarten Lorne discovered the Westdale Children’s School (WCS) where he found a community of like minded parents and teachers. In 2007, when his second son joined the kindergarten Lorne was asked to join the teaching staff and became an assistant to lead teacher Ursula Bethune.

Since joining WCS Lorne has continued to develop his understanding and knowledge of Waldorf early childhood education. Completing the Foundation Studies programme at the Rudolf Steiner Centre in Toronto and attending yearly Waldorf early childhood workshops and conferences in Southern Ontario and the US led by many inspiring Waldorf early childhood educators including Helle Heckmann, Stephen Splatny and Nancy Mellon.

Lorne especially enjoys working in the kitchen at the kindergarten preparing the various delicious snacks and welcoming the help he receives from many of the little ones who attend the school.
